Diet and Treats
How to use a KongKongs can entertain your dog for hours, whether they are in a crate, kitchen, or loose in your home. They take advantage of your dogs prey drive and, of course, their love of food! Kongs should be introduced to a dog by placing a small amount of food that can be easily reach (small pieces). If you have a dog that "gets it" quickly and will stick with it until they've finished every last morsel, then stuff away! You can layer things, from easier to more difficult, or you can pack them tightly. A doodle that's experienced with a Kong will happily search the house for one and will spend a long time working to get that food out. You can increase difficulty further by "hiding" the stuffed Kong inside something dog-safe that they have to open in order to reach the Kong. Some people wrap it in a towel, for example. Others stuff and freeze the Kong, a great treat in hot weather. It can
be stuffed with liquids or things like mashed potatoes. |
